“With amenities such as skillfully crafted public spaces and daylit units, The Andy is an example of a high-density infill housing project that will serve as a local model for sustainable housing.” ARCHITECT magazine.
There’s been a lot of buzz lately about one of our newest student housing units, The Andy, located on 18th & Patterson near the University of Oregon in Eugene. The unit, known for its innovative, sustainable design was featured in ARCHITECT magazine and is the 2014 Winner of the American Institute of Architects, Southwestern Oregon Chapter People’s Choice Awards for Best Multi-Family Housing.
This new 52,000 SF, 33-unit student housing project is a mix of 3-story townhouses and a 4-story apartment building. The modern design gives this new unit the feel of an urban loft rather than a student housing complex.
The amenities are a college student’s dream and includes on-site parking, a free flat screen TV in every living room, private balconies and entrances, free internet & trash service, washer & dryer in every unit, and so much more. Public spaces overlook and open onto an interior courtyard complete with a BBQ, bocce court & putting green for easy interaction among residents. Residents are also treated a special amenity room with X-box’s, TV’s and more.
Principal Architect, Richard Shugar, is an adjunct associate professor at the University of Oregon and has also worked with organizations such as the University of Oregon, Lane Community College and the Veterans Administration. His experience includes commercial buildings, multi-family housing, custom residences, medical facilities, interior design and historic preservation.
